Mum getting stuck in as always

As a progressive and expanding family business, P.H. Hull & Sons are very proud of where we have evolved from, and more importantly, where we are striving to be. For four generations our business has been built on the removal of food by-products. We began with a horse & cart which then moved to our grandfather's first lorry in 1940, collecting materials from schools and restaurants.
Our business model had to adapt following the outbreak of foot & mouth in 2001 when food waste with ABP (animal by-products) was disallowed from being fed to livestock. Any non-ABP food is recovered for animal feed whilst ABP's have to be transported direct to pet food production, anaerobic digestion or composting.
Since 2007 we have expanded the scope of our collections to include other recycling streams, which we developed alongside our food recovery service at customers' sites. Due to our high service levels and flexible approach in the market place, we can fully recover the true value of the product, which has seen a steady growth in all areas i.e. handling card, paper, metal, plastic, wooden pallets, oils and hazardous waste.
The unique location of our facility at Ragdale has been a perfect platform to support the bespoke systems and services we can offer our customers, ranging from collecting one 20kg mixed bag to a 44,000kg stream load of one product.
Our customer commitment defined our response to each challenge tackled over the last 40 years. We have faced BSE, Foot & Mouth, Sudan 1, the fuel crisis, a global recession, Covid-19 and withdrawal from the EU. All have tested both ourselves, and our customers, but we overcame these trials through collaboration and our drive to succeed.
Our growth has been underpinned by a long standing, committed and motivated team of staff. Some team members have been with us for over 20 years. Thanks to their hard work, reliability, technical abilities and excellent approach to customer service, we have been able to adapt, grow and maintain our modern fleet and recycling equipment, all vital to our expansion.
The success of our company is a result of collaborative working with our customers, large and small, across the UK, providing them with a blemish-free, family run service which we intend to continue for many years to come.
